Schools across Canada joined us for lively theatrical debates, bringing to life critical moments in Sir John A. Macdonald’s political life.

Our actors, local high school students and a special guest Speaker of the House worked together to imagine historical debates, exploring how these passionate conversations in Canada’s early Parliament helped to shape our nation.

The bilingual debates focused on the uniting of Canada, and the important, and at times controversial events surrounding Confederation, such as the building of the railway and the creation of the North West Mounted Police.

Prior to the debate, resource material and curriculum-linked lesson plans were provided to give students an understanding of Sir John A. Macdonald's life, Canada's political timeline, and parliamentary protocols.

Follow-up resources were provided to teachers to further embed the experience and increase national awareness of Canada’s founding fathers and principles, as well as the theatrical and debate techniques.
